AERIAL VIEWS OF THE CLARKSTOWN MODEL AERODROME

Rick Adler is a licensed pilot who took these pictures of the Clarkstown field on July 16, 2006.  You would expect many fliers at the field but there are none - this was one of those days that had a heat index of over 100 degrees!

In the photo above, notice how close the Shop Rite (lower left) is to the flying field.

View of the Clarkstown Transfer Station, future home of the Clarkstown Model Aerodrome, as it appeared around 1958.  The landfill is in the upper left.  This view faces West.  NY Thruway Exit 12 is at the lower right.  The Turnpike runs from the lower left to mid-right (East to West). Route 59 parallels the Turnpike. Route 303 runs across the picture from left to right (South to North).  The land between Route 59, Route 303 and the Turnpike will eventually become the Palisades Mall.
Another view facing West and slightly North.  The landfill is at the lower left.  The southern end of Lake DeForest is visible in the upper right.
