Minutes of the April 10, 2007 Meeting


Meeting commenced at 8:10 pm at the Zukor Administration Building

Giovanni Miazano from South Hackensack – 5 year experience with helicopters
Tony Ossipob from Nyack – A commercial pilot interested in helicopters
Ivan Martinez from the Bronx – Interested in helis and fixed wing

Mike Maresca will sign them up as Provisional Members


PRESIDENT’S OPENING REMARKS
Jeff Solomon thanked all members who helped out on the previous weekend at the field. We are still waiting for some final arrangements with the municipal people before we proceed further with the work.

VICE-PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Al Betancourt stated that we have a heavy agenda for the field work, and members must continue to pitch in. We must also appropriate monies by approval of the budget in order to proceed.

MINUTES
Stephen Carrozza did not have a copy of the 3-13-07 minutes to read into the record. He stated, however that they were posted on the web site.


TREASURER’S REPORT
No formal report was available, however Jeff Solomon outlined the budget for 2007. He provided a categorical breakdown, and concluded that the club’s estimated income for 2007 will be $14,600, and the expenses (including the field modifications) will be $18,300. The net deficit for the year will be $3,700. The largest expenditure will be the estimated $7,000 for the field improvements. This is to be an investment, and a one-time expenditure.

The budget was put to a floor vote. It passed by unanimous consent with no dissenters.


SAFETY OFFICER’S REPORT

Bob Greenberg reminded the membership about the importance of providing a label with name, address and AMA number inside all aircraft. Pilots must also have the frequency flag and a red banner.
He also stated that there has not been much flying due to the weather, and no problems at the field.

Jeff Solomon added that placards should be made up for the Spectrum 3 system flyers. Danny Landis stated that the Spectrum flyers should still put their cards on the frequency board for identification. Dick Eimert added that a separate Plexiglas slot can be added to the door of the frequency box for this purpose.

FLIGHT LEADER REPORT
No Report

COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Membership - Mike Maresca announced that there are two new paid Provisional members since the last meeting.
RFI Committee - None
Web page - Joe Guzzo stated that he cleaned up the site, and added a few new videos.
Pilot Qualifications - None
Good and Welfare - Sympathy card sent to the family of former member Gene Hansinger.


OLD BUSINESS
1. A floor vote was to be held for four Provisional members who are due for voting in. The vote was postponed at Bob Greenberg’s suggestion that the full board review the Provisional candidate’s records and qualifications first. The vote will be held at the next business meeting.
2. A meeting will be called for organizing the upcoming electric fun fly. The date and time for the meeting will be announced. Harvey Landis reminded the membership that a vote must be held to authorize the Fun Fly.



NEW BUSINESS
Jeff Solomon announced that the Board will be posting recommendations for a change to the By-Laws which will provide for four (4) new Board positions. These are to be the following:
1. Operations Field Manager
2. Helicopter Flight Leader
3. Helicopter Safety Officer
4. Public Relations Liaison to Clarkstown
The exact duties of these positions and the wording of the revisions will be posted on the web site for review by the membership. A Floor discussion and will be conducted at the next business meeting on May 8, 2007. Members are encouraged to participate.

Harvey Landis reminded the Board that the By-Laws revisions must be mailed to the ten members who do not have computers. All agreed.


MISCELLANEOUS

1. Bennie and Justin Chi are traveling to Honduras by invitation of an RC club in that country.
2. Stephen Carrozza won the 50/50, and returned the winnings to the treasury.
