At the January 10, 2006 meeting, Walt Witko received the Snoopy Trophy on behalf of "Team Witko" for their record endurance flight of 4 hrs, 28 min, 56 sec on June 8, 2005 with Walt's Sig Senorita powered by a Czech .21 engine. The award was presented by club Flight Leader (and opposing team leader), Jim Nelson. Although Jim graciously lauded Team Witko for their accomplishment, he vowed Team Nelson would retake the title this year (2006). Jim bemoaned the fact that Team Witko had 8 members to share the flying duties while Team Nelson consists of only himself and Doug Nasto. Walt was ready for that one saying his team had to stand the whole time while Jim and Doug reclined on beach lounge chairs during their flights! |
